Hendon progressed to the FA Trophy second round with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Walton & Hersham.
After a poor first half in which neither side were at their best, Hendon were indebted to a couple of excellent interventions from Matt Kerbey to keep the visitors at bay. On the stroke of half time, a long ball forward saw Kai Brosnan skip into the penalty area and neatly beat the advancing Tyla Dickinson to give Hendon the lead.
After the break both sides looked more assured and it was Sam Adenola's superb drive from the edge of the penalty area after an excellent run that extended Hendon's lead.
Two outstanding free kicks from Walton's Samuel Tutt rattled the frame of Matt Kerbey's goal before Eddie Simon reduced the arrears deep into stoppage time.
Hendon's progression takes them to the next stage of the competition for the first time since 2017/18, with the draw to come on Monday lunchtime.
