The Boro' come calling to take on the Greens this Saturday afternoon.
Kick-off is at 3.00pm. Perhaps bring a buddy, round-up a mate or 'phone a friend and enjoy a drink together in the clubhouse beforehand or afterwards to compare opinions on the best and the worst of the contest.
We truly are at the business end of the season and with only seven points currently separating the top four, the race for the title couldn't be much tighter. For our visitors, it is still all to play for in terms of automatic promotion although their participation in the play-offs already looks pretty much certain and that is an achievement in itself.
Last weekend Farnborough played host to Poole Town and ran out two nil winners keeping the pressure on the teams above them. Their 24 seasonal wins has put them right up there towards the top of the table and whatever the outcome of our match, they will no doubt be looking at results elsewhere come ten-to-five. Their trip to Taunton on the last day of the regular season could just have title decider as a sub-plot, although Hayes & Yeading might have something to say about that, bearing in mind their much superior goal difference.
For our part, this is a troubling period for Lee, and he will be thinking hard how to recover form in order to end the season with some style. Regretfully, he will have to do it without Hamza Semakula who suffered an ACL rupture, sprain, and meniscal tear in our away fixture at Dorchester. The current and unfortunate forecast for Hamza is a recovery period that will extend well into next season.
We would like to take the opportunity to point out some of the good reasons to watch non-league football. It's fun, and it’s cheerful! It’s good value for money! It's better than Saturday afternoon shopping! You can stand up without being told to sit down and you can change ends at half time! It’s your Club, we give you something to appreciate and be proud of!
Please look out for the end-of-match collection to support victims of the war in Ukraine that is being organised by our Community Officer, Dave.
