Hendon Under-14s continued their excellent form by seeing off another Premier Division scalp in their league cup semi-final. Their 3-1 win on penalties takes the team into the final where they will meet fellow Division One side FC Roundwood as they persue a double. Hendon took the lead in the 8th minute through Nassir Elmi, but Pinner equalised midway through the first period and the half ended with the scores level. Pinner took the lead during the second period, but like the first team, this group of talented youngsters don't know when they are beaten. With three minutes of normal time remaining Abdi Osman lifted the ball into the net to take the game into extra-time. Both sides had chances during extra-time, the closest coming when Pinner hit the woodwork, but the game moved into penalties. Both sides missed their first penalties before Jahrell Best scored for the Greens. Pinner had their next one saved by Parker Gilbert, Hendon missed their next spot kick before Pinner scored to equalise after three penalties each. Gavin Austin then found the back of the net for Hendon, Pinner missed their fourth, meaning that Nassir Elmi had to convert to win the tie for Hendon. This he did with aplomb to cue celebrations among the Hendon players and supporters. John Creith was once again full of praise for his squad and refused to single out any individual player saying that they all deserved the man of the match award. Details of the final will be published on the website as soon as they are available.
