Tomorrow afternoon sees Truro City make the near 600-mile round trip to North-West London as they open our home Pitching In Southern League South Premier Division campaign at Silver Jubilee Park.
The Cornishmen, who as coincidence would have it were also our most recent league opponents at SJP at the end of February, looked set for a swift return to the National League South at the first time of asking when the campaign was curtailed in March. A point ahead of Chesham United but with two crucial games in hand, it would have been difficult to bet against the White Tigers from sealing promotion barring a collapse in form.
In an attempt to give themselves every chance of making it up this season they have added to their squad with a couple of shrewd additions. Shane White has joined from Taunton Town along with Andrew 'Rocky' Neal, who adds even more goals to a dangerously effective strike force that already included last season's leading marksman, Tyler Harvey, and the dangerous Louis Rooney.
Truro did the double over the Greens last season with a 2-1 win at Treyew Road in October thanks to goals from James Ward and Luke Jephcott, Francis Amartey scoring our consolation. Then in the return fixture at the end of February, although Shaun Lucien equalised an early Jonathan North own-goal to level things off at the break, the White Tigers took complete control after the break to win 4-1 thanks to further goals from Harlain Mbayo and a Will Swan double.
Both sides go into tomorrow's fixture defending unbeaten competitive starts to the season. Our 2-1 win over Crawley Down in midweek made it 5 without defeat so far, including the conclusion of last season's London Senior Cup, whilst our visitors added to their opening day 1-0 win over Harrow Borough with a win by the same scoreline in their FA Cup at Tadley Calleva in midweek.
We'd ask all supporters to take time out to read the new ground regulations that were published yesterday, particularly with regards to getting drinks from the bar whilst test and trace will take place via the NHS COVID-19 app. If you are unable to download that app to your phone, we will be able to take your contact details upon entry.
