Hendon secured a valuable three points in their fight against possible relegation, beating bottom placed Heybridge Swifts 2-0 this afternoon at Scrawley Road. Chances were few and far between at either end, with Heybridge arguably creating more but neither keeper found himself tested often. The key incident came in the second half when two Heybridge players became involved in an altercation, Ian Wiles pushing Ollie Morris-Sanders to the ground and turning away for the 'keeper to react with his fist. Morris-Saunders was dismissed and Hendon immediately scored, a corner being flicked across the goal where Brian Haule rose to head home from close range. Deep in stoppage time, a Heybridge throw was played to replacement 'keeper Jamie Bowyer who tried to clear his lines but saw it deflect off Haule instead. The striker was first to the ball as it rolled across the six yard box and made no mistake in sealing the points.
