Hendon won this afternoon's home game with Harlow Town 5-0, not only giving the Greens a valuable three points the fight against relegation, but also their first home league win at Vale Farm - the previous best result being a draw with Heybridge in November. Brian Haule opened the scoring on six minutes, shooting home on the turn, while a penalty awarded for a careless challenge away from goal gave Peter Dean an opportunity to score the second on 24 minutes. The penalty was saved, but the striker followed up and hit the back of the net. Just three minutes later Lee O'Leary scored the best goal of the game, a dipping volley from around 25 yards beating James Hasell all ends up. James Busby scored the fourth just five minutes before half time to give Hendon an apparently unassailable lead.
The second half saw less action in the Harlow penalty area, and indeed the Hawks putting more pressure on the Greens on occasion. However, Danny Wolf fouled Brian Haule on 56 minutes with a poor chalenge and saw himself sent off, Haule unable to continue and Harlow down to ten men. The rout was completed in the 85th minute when a shot deflected off the back of Ryan Hall into Peter Dean's path. Dean made no mistake for his brace. The win puts Hendon up to 19th place and back in amongst the scrap for safety.
