We have played Dorchester Town twice previously, once in the FA Cup and once in a pre-season friendly. The FA Cup tie was in the third qualifying round in 2014 when a goal from Andy Robinson saw us knocked out of the competition. A Steve Ohene goal saw us win 1-0 in the friendly that was played in August 1998.
Dorchester were formed in 1880, and were founder members of the Dorset League in 1896, winning the championship in 1938. They joined the Western League in 1947, winning that title in 1955, before joining the Southern League in 1972. They were founder members of Conference South in 2004, but were relegated back to the Southern League ten years later.
The club is in community ownership and is run by its supporters. They are converting their pitch to a 3G artificial pitch this summer, allowing the club to become a hub for the local community - just as is happening at SJP.
