As supporters will be well aware, popular former player Dermot Drummy sadly passed away on 27th November. The inquest into his death has been held, and the coroner has recorded a verdict of suicide. The full BBC news story on the inquest can be found at http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-beds-bucks-herts-43647451. We continue to hold Dermot's family in our thoughts as they come to terms with their loss.
In memory of Dermot, we have decided that our bucket collection at our final home game of the season against Merstham will be donated to the Samaritans and MIND. Please give generously if you are able.
There are organisations out there who you can call upon should you be going through tough times. You can call the Samaritans on 116 123, free of charge from any phone at any time, and you can check out their website as well - https://www.samaritans.org/. Also there is MIND, who are a mental health charity, who on the front page of their website state that they will not give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets support and respect. Their website is at https://www.mind.org.uk and is full of helpful information.
As a club we want to be supportive to our own supporters as well. We are aware that Hendon Football Club has been a lifeline to some of our own supporters - giving them somewhere to go to avoid being sat at home on their own.
If you are someone who is suffering from depression or loneliness or anything similar, please email our chairman Simon Lawrence on simon.hendon@btinternet.com and he will arrange for you to have free admission to our next home game. This is not just for now - this offer will be open into next season and beyond.
