The first team gave the supporters an early Christmas present as they beat Brightlingsea Regent 4-2, in a game that contained a number of excellent goals.
The scoring was opened in the 10th minute when Keagan Cole finished clinically, but shortly before the half hour mark Brightlingsea equalised with a superb strike from their leading scorer Billy Hunt that gave Tom Lovelock no chance.
The visitors had the better of the exchanges in the second half, but they fell behind when Dave Diedhiou latched on to a pass behind the defence and he carried the ball forward to slip it past the oncoming Harry Palmer. Just two minutes later the Greens were further ahead with what was probably the best goal of the game.
Niko Muir had the ball with opposition players around him, but he left them standing to break into the box and fire a stunning strike into the roof of the net from an acute angle.
As the game moved into stoppage time, Josh Walker extended the lead further, only for Billy Hunt to score a second for the visitors with the final kick of the game.
The win means that the Greens go into Christmas in 5th place with 41 points from 22 games, having scored 50 league goals.
Next up is the short trip to Harrow Borough on Boxing Day - kick off at 1:00pm
