Gary McCann (who today - 2 February - celebrates 12 years as boss of the Greens) was frustrated after the defeat at the hands of neighbours Wingate & Finchley at the weekend.
He said, "This was yet another game where the performance merited at least a point but we ended up with none. There have not been too many games where I thought our performances didn’t merit at least a draw, if not a win, and we have lost the game.
"I think we did really well to limit them to just a couple of chances and we created many more. We have to be more clinical in front of goal and turn these chances into goals.
"That said, I thought their back two were excellent, as were the goalkeeper behind him and Ahmet Rifat in front of them. Between them they made it very difficult for our strikers.
"The goal we conceded was very disappointing on so many levels and in so many phases, from the fumble, through the poor kick, the lack of awareness in the centre circle, then allowing the shot and the reaction to it. The strike was excellent, but better reactions would have helped the cause.
"After Tuesday, I really wanted to keep the same starting 11, but four players missed training, all for valid reasons. My policy and principle is that if you miss training on Thursday you make it very difficult for me to play you.
"That said, when Matt and Marcel came on, we looked more composed and also more dangerous. I firmly believe you have to have rules and I let the players know that in the dressing room.
"We played more long balls than I would have liked, especially in the first half, but I understand why we did it. However, the quality of those passes had to be much better.
"We have got to be more clever in everything we do on the pitch. At the moment we are making it too easy for our opponents and they are taking advantage of it."
