The club have issued the following statement following the events on Saturday afternoon.
"An internal investigation has been opened in the wake of Saturday's incident which resulted in the abandonment of our League match against AFC Sudbury. No further comment will be made until that investigation has been concluded.
However, as a result of Kevin Maclaren having received a red card for violent conduct, it has been mutually agreed between the Board, the manager and the player himself that Kevin will leave the club with immediate effect.
While the reasons for his departure are extremely disappointing, Kevin's contribution and loyalty to the club cannot be overstated, having played almost 300 games since his debut at the start of the 2008/9 season. Kevin wore the captain's armband with great pride for much of his Hendon career and remained loyal to the club despite having received a number of offers to go elsewhere for greater reward.
The club thanks him for his outstanding service and wishes him well for the future."
