Gary McCann's patience with the squad is close to running out and after the 4-1 defeat at home to Kingstonian, he said, "We were not good enough. In all of the last three matches we deserved to lose by four or five every time.
"The things that I said about the squad and their mental toughness on Saturday can be repeated here. Yes, we had to make a handful of changes, but some of them were enforced because of injury. But there was a lack of leadership and communication which I will have to address.
"We are a very young squad, but they need to give me more than effort and commitment. We were much better in the second half, and I suppose it is a positive that we didn't fold up our tents.
"However, we looked a beaten team the moment they scored - and they had missed a number of very good chances before the goal came. And this all happened after we had started the game reasonably well.
"It is evident to me and most that we will need to overhaul the squad. What I have seen in the past three games is simply not acceptable. I brought in three players for the game yesterday and they acquitted themselves well, but more additions are needed.
"We have reached rock bottom and I can look upon it as a positive only if it gives us the solid, firm base from which to build upwards."
