An outstanding team performance ensured Hendon progressed into the third qualifying round of the FA Cup this afternoon with a 4-1 win over Leiston.
The Greens took the lead after just 40 seconds when Leon Smith scored a curling shot into the top corner having been set up by excellent play from Aaron Morgan and Andre Da Costa.
The lead was doubled just before half time by Da Costa for his first goal for the club with another fine curling effort, this time into the bottom corner.
The Greens continued to pile on the pressure and deservedly went three ahead midway through the second half when Dave Diedhiou slammed the ball home from a Kevin Maclaren ball into the box.
Leiston pulled a goal back five minutes from time through Tom Bullard, but as the game moved deep into stoppage time Kezie Ibe completed the scoring as he took the ball round the keeper and finished with aplomb.
The draw for the next round will be made on Monday, and will be available on the website as soon as we can. Due to our progress, and Witham Town's 4-2 win over Lewes, our trip to Witham on 11th October has been postponed.
