Tomorrow evening sees the first team return to cup action as they make the short trip to Wingate & Finchley in the London Senior Cup Quarter Final tomorrow. The winners will be at home to the winners of the tie between Bromley and Tooting & Mitcham United which is also due to be played tomorrow evening.
Wingate & Finchley's game against Thurrock yesterday afternoon has hit the national headlines for all the wrong reasons. The game was abandoned late in the second half after Wingate had five players sent off in separate incidents during the game. FA rules state that you must have a minimum of 7 players on the field at any time for the game to continue, and of course with five players dismissed, Wingate only had six! The Ryman League are expected to make a ruling on the outcome of the game in the next few days. The suspensions don't kick in for a fortnight, so all the dismissed players are available if selected by Wingate tomorrow evening, but some will be suspended when we play them in the League in three weeks time.
The game has overshadowed the Ryman League's Kick It Out weekend, which the Wingate game was part of, and has also overshadowed the disability tournament that took place ahead of the game.
Gary McCann will be very keen to ensure that the squad's focus is on the quarter final and not on the events that happened yesterday, and will also be wanting to make sure that the club return to winning ways following last week's defeat to Harrow Borough.
Kick off tomorrow evening is at 7.45pm, with admission prices set at £10 for adults, £5 for concessions and £3 for under 16s.
Should any inspection be required, or should the game be postponed - we will update the website as soon as possible.
