The board of directors have confirmed this morning that should the club claim a promotion spot this season, the place in Blue Square South would be taken up for the 2012-13 season. This would be regardless of whether or not it meant the club could be competitive or not at the higher level.
This announcement has been made following a posting on the Non League Matters website yesterday evening, which suggested that the club had decided not to apply for promotion.
Club chairman Simon Lawrence said this morning, "As all our supporters are aware, as a fans-owned club, we can only spend what we, the fans, generate by way of income. It is quite feasible that at some point in the future our financial constraints will dictate the level of football that we can afford to play in, but the intention remains to take up a promotion place in Blue Square South if we earn one."
