Eight man Hendon lost 4-1 at Canvey Island this afternoon, with three players being sent off in separate incidents.
The game started brightly with the Greens taking the lead in the 15th minute when Jamie Busby converted a spot kick after Greg Ngoyi had been fouled in the area by John Easterford.
Canvey were back in the game in the 33rd minute, when Daniel Sintim appeared to trip over his own feet, colliding with a Canvey player in the box. The referee ruled that it denied a goalscoring opportunity, Sintim saw red, and Rob King stepped up to convert the spot kick.
Canvey took the lead shortly before the hour mark through Jay Curran, and just moments later the Greens were down to nine men when Kevin Maclaren was sent off for a second yellow card.
Things got even worse in the 75th minute when Michael Peacock was dismissed for a dangerous challenge, and the free kick was fired home by Danny Heale. Despite being up against 8 men, Canvey failed to create any chances of note until stoppage time when Leon Gordon found the back of the net.
Very much an afternoon to forget for the Greens as they now turn their attention to the two county cup matches coming up this week.
