The youth team presentation evening took place on June 23rd at the club, and turned out to be a successful night. The four Sunday youth teams had a highly successful season. The Under 16s, managed by Peter Perry, won the Premier Division of their league, the Under 15s, managed by Steve Neville, won their Division along with the Middlesex County Cup, the Under 14s, managed by Dave Merrilees, came runners up in their Division, and the Under 13s, managed by Dragan Jenic, won their Division just after Christmas. Players of all four teams received trophies for their excellent achievements. The trophies were presented by first team captain, Gary Fitzgerald, who congratulated all the players individually as they received their trophies.
Secretary, Graham Etchell and Vice-Chairman Andrew Landesberg spoke highly of the youth teams achievements, and also spoke about the development of youth players towards the reserves and first team, a process Hendon has already seen take place with the promotion of Dale Binns and Nathan Edwards to the first team squad.
The managerial line up for the reserves and youth teams was confirmed at the awards evening as well. The reserve team will be managed by Alan Rolnick, the Under 16s will be managed by Steve Neville, the Under 15s will be managed by Dave Merrilees, the Under 14s by Dragan Jenic, and the Under 13s by Phil Neville, the younger brother of Steve Neville. Peter Perry is leaving the club to concentrate on settling into his new home with his wife and newly born daughter. Peter was thanked for all his efforts and achievements over the past 3 seasons, and Peter hopes to help out with coaching from time to time, and return to management in the future.
Andrew Landesberg also spoke of the desire of Frank Murphy to keep the Under 18 section of the club open, although they will not be competing in the Southern Counties Youth League this season the clubs membership will be kept up. The club will hopefully be competing in an invitational cup in which those players still under 18 in the reserves, and the best of the under 16 team will represent Hendon Football Club at Under 18 level.
Any players who wish to be considered for trials should contact the club on 020 8201 9494 for more details. Trials will commence during July.
