Gary McCann has announced this morning that we have released Brian Haule, and he is expected to sign for Ashford Town (Middlesex). The Tangerines manager, Mark Butler, made an informal enquiry after our recent game at Short Lane, and followed it up with a formal seven day approach.
Gary has been unable to give Brian the assurances he wanted with regard to his role at the club, and the offer from Ashford is a better financial package. Brian's departure does help Gary to balance our books, and we do still have four other quality strikers at the club.
Brian made his debut for us on 14th September 2002 when he scored a late equaliser at Hampton & Richmond Borough. He had spells at Harrow Borough and Maidenhead United before returning in November 2006. Overall he made 127 appearances, scoring 51 goals in the process. We thank Brian for all his efforts over the past few years, and we send him our good wishes for the future.
We must also thank Ashford's manager, Mark Butler, and their club officials as they have conducted themselves in a very professional manner over their approach to sign Brian.
