Hendon won for the first time in 8 years at Basingstoke Town this afternoon, coming away 2-0 winners and giving the travelling support a present for Christmas. After a tough early spell that saw some baffling decisions by the match officials and three Hendon players booked, Hendon took the lead in the 36th minute when Eugene Ofori beat Steve Hemmings to a long ball and ran on to draw Scott Tarr out of his goal and slot the ball past him. The lead was extended early in the second half when Hemmings hooked the ball into his own net. Hendon held on comfortably for the rest of the game, creating a number of half chances but not being able to convert them. The result moves Hendon up to fourth in the table going into the festive period.
