Hendon kept their faint hopes of challenging Canvey and Aldershot at the top of the league alive with a late winner at Aylesbury United's Buckingham Road ground this afternoon. Neither side was particularly creative, although Hendon took control of the second half and ended up having had the better of the game. However, it wasn't until the third minute of stoppage time that the Dons scored, and even then the goal had a touch of fortune about it. A shot from Crace deflected off Rob Haworth and then fell to teammate Paul Towler. Towler's shot was then saved but not held, falling to an Aylesbury defender who could only clear the ball into his teammate Greg Williams, who could do no more than backheel the ball into the net.
