An injury hit Hendon side slipped to a 2-0 defeat to Sutton United this evening. Without the services of Dale Binns (ankle), Ricci Crace (hamstring), Martin Randall (personal reasons) and Rob Haworth (on loan at Gravesend), the Greens were forced to give a debut to striker René James-Barriteau. Also making his debut, albeit as a substitute was Andre Delisser. Sutton took the lead in the 8th minute when Danny Hodges bundled the ball home following a goalmouth scramble in which Dave King made three good saves. The Greens gradually came back into the game and were creating more chances, but were unable to convert any. The second goal came with literally the final kick of the game when Matt Gray capitalised on a collision between Mark Cooper and Jon-Barrie Bates to fire the ball home. It must be said that Hendon worked very hard, particularly in the second half and a 2-0 defeat can be considered as a harsh scoreline.
