The club have released the following press release this afternoon
Dave Bedford, the former 10,000m World Record Holder and Race Director of the Flora London Marathon has accepted an invitation by Hendon FC to join its Board. Mr Bedford, 54 is a lifelong supporter of the Club, which he first visited as a boy in 1958.
"I am delighted to become part of the organisation of the Club and look forward to being part of its future success. The Club is currently at a crossroads with the move from Claremont Road to Copthall Stadium imminent and this will be a challenging time for the Club. The multi sports concept based at Copthall is the way forward for local sport and as a member of Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers, also based at Copthall I am in a good position to encourage local clubs to work together."
Bedford, always a local boy, lives in Hampstead less than 50m from where the Club was founded as Christ Church Hampstead in 1908. Club Chairman Ivor Arbiter added, "It will be great to have someone with Dave's experience working with us and he has some great ideas for the future. I am sure that all Club supporters will welcome him. The future financial stability of the club is very important to us all and I will be working with Dave to secure this.
"Hendon have never been relegated in almost 100 years and this is a great sign of good management. The Club's new facility at Copthall is a great step forward in its history but careful management has never been more important than now."
