The Greens lost their first friendly of the summer going down 3-1 at Boreham Wood on a hot afternoon. Fielding a number of new faces, the Greens started brightly and took the lead in the 11th minute when Takumi Ake intercepted a poor defensive pass and slotted the ball past Noel Imber. Three minutes later Marvin Samuel equalised for the home side. The best chance in the rest of the half fell to Leon Maloney who saw his lob saved under the bar by Imber.
Hendon certainly had the better of the first half, but Boreham Wood had the better of the second period. They took the lead in the 52nd minute when a clearance from Richard Wilmot rebounded off Darryl Cox into the net and the final goal came in the 83rd minute. However, Gary McCann will have learnt plenty about the new players he was looking at as he continues to build the side for the new campaign.
