Gary McCann took time out before the game today to give Greensnet a full update on all the comings and goings so far this summer on the player front. Beginning with the players that were with us at the end of last season, players who are still with us are Takumi Ake, James Burgess, Jamie Busby, Danny Edwards, Jimmy Froud, Adilson Lopes, Lee O'Leary, Ross Pickett and René Street. However, René will be unavailable for the next few weeks. Also still with us are reserve team defenders Conor Carroll, Francois Gabbidon and forward Lamelle Williams.
Unfortunately Ricci Crace has left us due to a change of circumstances that have made it difficult for him to make training sessions during the season. He is currently training with Enfield Town. Other players who are training elsewhere are Andy Cook (Hampton & Richmond Borough), Mark Cooper (Windsor & Eton), Dave Hunt (Enfield Town), Dave King (Tooting & Mitcham United), Marc Leach (Slough Town), Charlie Mapes (Hemel Hempstead Town), Blaise O'Brien (Hillingdon Borough) and Danny Murphy (Hayes). As reported elsewhere Byron Bubb has agreed terms with AFC Wimbledon, and his brother Bradley is also reported to be training with Dave Anderson's side. Meanwhile Belal Aiteourakrim and Darren Watson have not been in contact with the club since the end of last season so we have assumed that they have moved on. We would like to thank all the players who have left for their efforts last season and wish them all well for the future.
Now to go through the new faces that are training with us. As mentioned recently popular goalkeeper Richard Wilmot has joined the club from Hitchin Town adding some much needed experience in goal. Another familiar figure training with us at the moment is defender Yiadom Yeboah, who was with Yeading last season having previously been with Hayes. Craig Vargas is a defender who was with Brook House last season, whilst from the same club comes striker Dean Thomas. Leon Maloney is another striker who has been in local football recently, but some supporters will remember him scoring a goal for us in pre-season at Arlesey Town a few years ago under Frank Murphy.
Wayne O'Sullivan is a defender/midfielder who spent seven years at Arsenal as a youngster before moving on to Exeter City and Newport County. Kevin Mason is a right back who also has previously been at Arsenal, whilst Dwayne Williams is a central midfielder who was previously with Harefield United and has also played for Hayes. George Mapes, younger brother of Charlie, is a left winger who was with Northwood last season whilst Nas Richardson is a striker who was with Harefield United and AFC Wimbledon last term. Another new face training with us is Ryan Wharton who comes from Hillingdon Borough, along with Brazilian trialists Phillipe Souza and Alex Pessotti.
We welcome all the new faces to the club, and should they make the final first team squad in a few weeks time we hope they enjoy their time with us.
