The holders, and favourites to retain the London Intermediate Cup, the reserves turned in their poorest performance of the season at Dagenham, where they were beaten 4-0. Despite the presence of Brian Chubb, David Hogwood, Laurie Churchill, Peter Dean and David Swain the team just did not click. Churchill suffered an unusual, but painful injury. He had his neck trodden on!

Club captain, John Fisher, who only last month was told by a specialist that he would kick a ball until after Christmas, has made such rapid recovery from the terrible knee injury that required 27 stitches that he turned out for the reserves last Saturday and helped in the 3-0 home victory over Walthamstow Avenue. Geoff Riddy switched to right-back and had a good game. John is making a last minute bid to be fully fit in an effort to win his centre-half spot for the Welsh Amateur International side which meets England at Bangor soon. Newcomer Colin Bishop, who has played for Leyton Orient's Youth side, had a grand game for the reserves at left back. He had the job of marking Walthamstow's veteran international Jim Lewis. Holder of 49 England caps, Jim took a penalty which was brilliantly saved by goalie Ron Whittaker. Our scorers were David Swain (2) and Les Davey.

Handicapped by an injury to outside right Russ Fleming, who was crocked after only a few minutes and took no further part in the game, the reserves lost by the only goal at St Albans. Though they only had ten men, it was a case of missed chances for our boys.

Our reserves took a tumble at Dulwich where they were beaten 2-1. It was surprising because we were leading with a goal by Geoff Riddy, who went up for a corner, and then in the second half Dulwich lost their goalkeeper. He went to hospital with a gashed leg. Then Dulwich equalised and, despite another injury to one of their players, scored the winner late in the game.
