Many chances were squandered when Hendon Reserves entertained Southall Reserves at Claremont Road on Saturday. Some of them seemed impossible to miss - but they were. Southall started strongly and only the brilliance of the home 'keeper Johnny Harwood kept them from running up a big score. Hendon took the lead but Southall were on terms by the interval and they went ahead soon after the restart. The homesters equalised with a disputed goal but Southall, who always looked dangerous, netted the winner eight minutes from time. Derek Godwin and Johnny Westmore were sound in the Hendon defence.
