Former England international who joined the club as player-manager in the summer of 1993 and set about building one of the most attractive Hendon sides in recent memory. Left in December 1993 to manage his home town club Southend United, thus embarking on an illustrious managerial career that took in England Under-21s, Leicester City and for one match, the full England team where he handed David Beckham the captain's armband.
