Signed for Hampstead Town following World War 1 and soon made the move into the Football League, initially with Aston Villa as an amateur in December 1920. Made more than 100 appearances including in the 1924 FA Cup final against Newcastle United and won 1 full England cap against France in the same year. Went on to play for Cardiff City and Mansfield Town before becoming trainer at Birmingham City during the World War 2.
