Joined the club in February 1927 upon leaving the R.A.F. Made his debut for the reserves at Summerstown at the end of the month, and made his first-team debut in a home friendly in early March against Clapton Orient Reserves. Nominally a left half, his first team appearances were limited by the regular appearances of Bob Wardlaw in that position.
