A left back, he joined the club from the Luton area in September 1926, in time to make his debut against Berkhamsted Town on the same day that the Claremont Road ground was opened. A serious injury suffered in November 1927 ended his 1927-28 season, and his appearances for the first team in the subsequent two seasons were few in number. He left the club at the end of the 1929-30 season.
