William Henry Butland joined the club in time to make his first team debut on 9th November 1929. Played mainly at inside-left and occasionally at half-back, he was a popular player because he always gave 100%. Scored 34 goals in 107 appearances for the club, his final appearance and goal coming in the opening league game of the 1932-33 season. Joined Enfield in September 1932, transferring later in the season to Finchley.
