Albert Charles J Broadis, known as "Bert", joined the club during the latter part of the 1931-32 season, playing for the reserves, chiefly at centre-half.
In 1932-33 he made one early appearance in the first team when Percy Rees, the current incumbent, was unavailable, and became a regular later in the season, either at left-half or centre-half. Became a regular in the half-back line at the start of September 1933, proving quite proficient at converting penalties and free kicks up to 30 yards out. Moved to Finchley during the 1937-38 season.
Possessor of a thunderous shot, he became the club's regular penalty taker, and he also scored a number of goals from direct free kicks at any distance up to 35 yards from goal.
He left the club during the 1937-38 season and joined Finchley, where he was still playing regularly early in the war.
