Match Report

Hampstead Town got through their first English cup-tie on Saturday in easy fashion by defeating Polytechnic by 8 goals to nil - one of the biggest scores in the competition. Hampstead had the measure of their opponents from the start, but the strength and playing ability of the Polytechnic team were not fairly portrayed by the score, the game being open and interesting throughout.
At half-time Hampstead led by four goals, registered by L.P. Price, F.L. Burrage, and G.F. Blackburn (2). A similar score accrued in the second period, S.P. Briscoe, F.L. Burrage, and G.F. Blackburn (2) sharing the honours. R. Look (in goal) was easily the best man in the opposing eleven, and Polytechnic throughout played a good sporting game, the state of the score at no time having any adverse effect upon their efforts.
