On Wednesday, Golders Green concluded their League programme by a defeat at Bromley. The team was somewhat unfamiliar in composition, but Bromley, too, were without some of their usual men, though they fielded some excellent substitutes, including Henderson, the Nunhead winger, who gave Bucci some troublesome times.
After 20 minutes' play Henderson beat Ward and shot. Barlow saved, but Hormell recovered the ball and lobbed a shot onto the angle of the posts. The rebound went to MACKINTOSH, who scored with a fine drive from the edge of the penalty area. Barlow was kept busy for a time, saving well from Henderson, and dealing safely with two free kicks. At the other end, just before the change-over, F. Boston had a fine chance which he failed to convert.
The second half opened with a Bromley attack, from which Martin shot wide , but gradually the visitors asserted themselves and, with the wind, had more of the play. Clifford saved a score when he tipped the ball off Boston's head from Breagan's centre, and shortly afterwards good work by Ward and Breagan ended with Boston offside. After about 20 minutes' play Mackintosh sent in a terrific drive which Barlow saved well, but the ball went to TREMAYNE, who had no difficulty in notching Bromley's second goal.
Walker was unlucky on one occasion, when he headed just over the bar from Murray's pass, with the goalkeeper beaten.
