Surrey. Frank Murphy made several changes after Saturday, and experimented by placing Mavuto Sakala up front with Dominic Gentle.
The first half was evenly balanced with neither side creating much. Jason McKoy worked hard down the right with Matthew Howard, Davis Haule won a lot in the air in midfield and Matthew Maran made some good runs down the left, but to no avail.
Midway through the first half the Hendon defence fell asleep, leaving an easy chance for a Walton player to score past McCann.
To their credit, Hendon kept their heads up, took the game to the Swans and late in the half, Simon Clarke sent a ball in from the right, which bounced around the box, before falling to Gary Fitzgerald who struck the ball high into the net for his 3rd goal of the season.
Hendon then managed to take control of the match in the second half, and had the lions share of possession. Davis Haule worked particularly hard in the middle with Jon Daly, while Jason McKoy and Matthew Maran continued to make probing runs down the wings.
Hendon, however, were unable to convert their superior possession into goals. In the 79th minute Paul Whitmarsh replaced Mavuto Sakala, and immediately entered the fray, looking as sharp as he ever has done.
Walton always looked dangerous on the break however, and Gary McCann was forced to make a couple of good saves before Whitmarsh had a good chance to score after dispossessing keeper Adrian Blake, but the ball ran away from him, and the defenders managed to clear.
In injury time the win was sealed. The ball fell to Whitmarsh about 25 yards out and he let rip sending the ball fizzing into the roof of the net, sending the Hendon fans into raptures.
