Hendon opened their pre-season friendly campaign with a comfortable 2-0 win at Tring Athletic on a very hot summers afternoon.
Fielding a side made up of registered players and trialists, the Greens were in control for much of the game.
Most notable among the trialists were defender Michael Duberry, best known for his time at both Chelsea and Leeds United, and striker Jefferson Louis, the latter signing for the club after the game.
Hendon had the better of the opening exchanges, with Louis, fellow trialist Anthony Thomas and Dean Cracknell all seeing chances go narrowly wide of the target. Meanwhile, at the other end Berkley Laurencin had a comfortable 45 minutes, and wasn't really tested by the Tring front line.
The only goal of the first period came on the half hour mark when the ball fell to Chris Seeby on the edge of the area, and he blasted the ball into the net, giving the keeper no chance.
As is often the case with friendlies, there were multiple changes at half time - Gary McCann making 9 changes - but the game continued in a similar vein, with replacement keeper Mike McEntegart dealing with everything that was thrown at him by the home side.
The second goal came early in the period when a cross from Scott Cousins was then sent towards goal by Lewis Jackson, and Dave Diedhiou rose highest to head the ball home from close range.
Chances fell to Jackson, George Bowerman and Isaiah Rankin during the second half, but there was to be no more goals, and so the game ended with the Greens winning 2-0.
