Hendon and Wealdstone acted quickly once their Ryman League Premier Division matches were postponed and set up a friendly at The Hive.
Happiest man of all was Wealdstone goalkeeper Jonathan North, who made his comeback after nine months out with a broken leg. He played the full 90 minutes and showed he had lost none of his great reflexes with a couple of outstanding stops to deny Jack Mazzone and Niko Muir.
In the 13th minute, Wealdstone had a great chance to score when Peter Dean beat the offside trap and had only Berkley Laurencin to beat. He, however, saw Tom Pett arriving in support and elected to pass to him, but the Hendon defence got back in enough numbers to block his shot and the chance was lost.
Hendon did have one chance from a corner, but the header through a crowd of players was hooked away by a Wealdstone defender near to the goal-line.
Both teams made a number of changes at half-time and, seven minutes into the second period Pett had a one-on-one with stand-in Hendon keeper (Wealdstone's) Taurtis Poniskaitis. The goalkeeper did extremely well to stick out a hand and palm the ball wide of the post.
Two minutes later, North was grateful to watch a dipping volley from Hendon sub Jack Mazzone go over the angle of post and crossbar.
In the 64th minute, Wealdstone went ahead when Richard Jolly latched onto a through ball from Chris Moore and, having steadied himself, rolled the ball past Poniskaitis into the net.
Hendon's equaliser came just seven minutes later when Mazzone scored. He found himself in acres of space and waited for North to commit himself before slipping the ball past him.
Niko Muir nearly gave Hendon the lead in the 78th minute but North produced an outstanding save to keep out his effort. Another half-chance went to Kevin Maclaren, but his powerful drive was deflected away for a corner by the outstretched leg of a defender.
In the final few minutes, it was Wealdstone's turn to have the chances and both Moore and Pett will feel they should have done much better with opportunities close to the goal.
Stones manager Gordon Bartlett said, "This was a very good workout for us. We would have trained once our Ryman League match was off, but this was much better and the players were all together before our Christmas party this evening."
Hendon manager Gary McCann said, "I am very pleased with the performance. It is good that we had a chance to tick over after the good result on Tuesday night.
"The attitude of all the players, in both halves, was excellent and that was good too."
