In their last home game at Vale Farm before their move to Harrow Borough this summer, Hendon were beaten 3-2 by Enfield Town.
The result means that Hendon's play-off hopes hang by a thread, whilst Enfield Town are now safe from relegation.
Due to injury and suspensions, Gary McCann was forced to name a starting XI that had no strikers or regular central defenders, and the lack of the latter showed within 3 minutes when Joe O'Brien latched on to a through ball to give Enfield Town the lead.
The Greens almost equalised straight away, but Dave Diedhiou's shot went wide of the target after the ball had been flicked on by Lee O'Leary. Minutes later, Max McCann attempted to lob Noel Imber in the Enfield goal, but the experienced keeper managed to hold on to the ball just before it reached the line.
In the 15th minute, the visitors doubled the lead when Tyler Campbell was the first to get to a loose ball from a Sean Thomas save, and he slammed the ball into the net.
A good move involving Diedhiou, McCann and Jack Conners set up O'Leary, and his shot was deflected wide for a corner.
With ten minutes to go in the opening period, Enfield were three goals to the good as a defensive error allowed Liam Hope to find the back of the net.
In the 39th minute a poor back header from Lee White allowed Dean Cracknell to head the ball towards Diedhiou, but his own headed effort went narrowly over the bar.
Then, on the stroke of half-time, Diedhiou crossed the ball into the box. It eluded everyone and fell to the feet of a surprised McCann, who scuffed his shot into the arms of a grateful Imber.
Within six minutes of the restart, Hendon were back in the game. Isaiah Rankin, who had replaced Warren Goodhind at half-time, held the ball up and fed it to McCann, who in turn played it into Diedhiou.
The big midfielder allowed the ball to bounce, but hit his shot first time, and the power took it between Imber's legs and into the back of the net. It was no more than the Greens deserved for their effort so far in the game.
Almost straight from the kick-off, Enfield nearly restored their three goal advantage when Michael Bardle set up Campbell, but his shot was well wide of the target.
In the 70th minute a long throw from Connors, which had been causing problems for the visiting defence, found Diedhiou, who set up Rankin, but he had strayed just offside.
Seven minutes later, Connors delivered another long throw, which found the head of O'Brien, who managed to head it past Imber into his own net.
The Greens had some good chances in the dying minutes to find the equaliser. First of all Diedhiou had a shot blocked having been set up by Rankin, and from the follow up, Jack Bennett also had his effort blocked, before Scott Cousins fired over the bar.
Then as the game moved into stoppage time, Dean Cracknell fired wide of the target, and the final chance fell to Bennett, but his strike was superbly saved by Imber.
