Match Report

The first win of the season was recorded last Saturday by Hampstead [Town], when Watford Old Boys were the visitors to Avenue ground in a friendly encounter.

Hampstead were without the services of Kirby and Lewis Smith, both suffering from injuries, but nevertheless were far superior to the Herts team, who were scarcely up to the stength of the clubs usually met in the Athenian League. Three goals were registered in each half, the first two by Ken Seabrooke, and the other four by F.G. Young. The home forwards gave a pleasing display, and the defence was quite capable of the demands made upon it.

The Town have yet to record a point in the Athenian League, but inasmuch as both games played have been away, and against two of the strongest teams in the League, there is no need for depression. Following the reverse by the odd goal against Southall on 1st September, Hampstead visited Barking [Town] on Thursday, 6th September, and although without Seabrooke, Kirby, and Isaac, managed to keep the score sheet blank until one minute from time, when Barking managed to register the only goal of the match.

Tomorrow (Saturday) Hampstead visit Redhill, and as the home time have obtained five out of a possible six points, the possibility of picking up a point seems somewhat remote.
