Wood Green Town were the visitors last Saturday at the Avenue Ground in the first round of the Amateur Cup, but proved no match for Hampstead, who qualified to meet Luton Trinity in the next round by 2 goals to nil.

The score does not represent Hampstead's superiority, only the fine display of the opposing defence preventing a large score.

The crowd was easily a record for the ground, and the increasing interest in the Town's doings is very gratifying to the committee.

The Town forwards were unable to penetrate the visitors defence in the first half, although having many opportunities, and the interval arrived with no score.

G. Garlick, who had been playing well on the left wing, opened the Town's account with a fine rising shot, and later A. Humphreys (who has so far scored in every match), obtained the final goal.
