The Town put up a fine performance on Saturday by effecting a draw with Southall in the Middlesex Charity Cup semi-final, the score being 1-1.
Southall, who had heavily defeated Shepherd's Bush the previous Saturday, were at full strength, but Hampstead's team had to be rearranged owing to H Ashman being unable to play.
A Tomkins, however operated successfully at left-half. The Town lost the toss and had to face a strong wind and sun. Before Hampstead had settled down to their game Southall were a goal up, Beach profiting from a faulty clearance by Matthews.
From this period until the interval Hampstead predominated, O Sumner scoring a magnificent goal, which brought the scores level.
Throughout the second half, play was every even, both goals having some narrow escapes. G Garlick almost won the game for the Town in the last minute, the Southall custodian making a grand clearance. The match was witnessed by a large crowd, and the charity will benefit considerably from the proceeds.
The tie will be replayed at the Avenue ground, Cricklewood Lane, on a date to be arranged.
