Hampstead Town and Wealdstone were the contestants in a London League game on the latter's ground Saturday. 12 goals being scored, the home team being credited with seven.
The high scoring seems to indicate weakness in the respective defences; but it was mainly due to the fact that the forwards availed themselves of most of their chances. Both teams were full strength and the game was exceptionally fast and full of incident.
Hampstead lost the toss and kicked off down the slope, and they crossed over with a well-deserved lead of 3-0. Immediately after the resumption a remarkable change took place. The home team with long swinging passes rushed down the slope and scored four goals in rapid succession. Hampstead’s defence was completely overwhelmed and to make matters worse J. Southwell at left back strained himself severely in stopping rush and was afterwards "passenger."
The "Town** made many plucky attempts to save the game and succeeded in scoring two further goals uphill.
The Town's goals were scored by Jock Davidson, A. Tomkins, S Evans, and H. Pike. Jock made a welcome return at centre forward for the Town and made the forward line more effective. K. L. Hudson (capt.) was in fine form at right back.
Hampstead put up highly creditable performance and their opponents' knowledge of their peculiar ground probably gave them the points.
