Match Report

Hendon completed their ten match pre-season programme with an evenly matched goalless draw at Harlow Town, who are one of the favourites in the Ryman League Division One North, a level below the Greens.

Whilst the game as a whole was evenly matched, the Hawks certainly had the better of the first half, whilst it was Hendon who had the best of the second period.

However, the first chance to open the scoring did fall to the Greens in the 12th minute, but Danny Dyer's free kick was rather disappointing and rolled gently wide of the goal, giving the Harlow keeper enough time to go and catch a platypus before going to collect the ball for a goal kick.

A few minutes later, Harlow's first chance came along, also by way of a free kick, but Leon Lalite's effort was also disappointing and flew well over the bar, and then on the half hour mark, Louis Perkins had an effort also go over the target.

In the 37th minute, Lawrence Yaku had a shot blocked by Adam Rafis following a cross from Casey Maclaren, whilst shortly before half-time, Perkins saw a fine effort rebound off the post, with Berkley Laurencin making a fine save from the rebound.

The Greens stepped things up in the second half, and early in the half Yaku was set up by Scott Cousins, but he could only direct his header wide of the goal. Shortly after his introduction to the fray, Greg Ngoyi flicked the ball towards goal, but Rafis made a fine block to keep the ball out.

As both sides made substitutions, the game opened up a bit more, and in the 77th minute Ngoyi and Aaron Morgan linked up well, but the former's effort was put wide for a corner by Rafis.

Six minutes later Morgan had an effort of his own well saved, before Dave Diedhiou saw his effort fly narrowly wide of the target. The final chance of the game also fell to Morgan, who was set up well by Bradley Ambrose, but again the striker was unable to find the target.

Gary McCann now has two training sessions to put the final preparation in place as the squad get ready for the start of the league campaign next Saturday at home to Concord Rangers.
