Last Saturday the Town met the redoubtable Bronze Athletic on their ground at Rotherhithe in Division 1 of the London League, and gained a meritorious victory by 1 goal to 0.
It is noteworthy that this is the first defeat experienced by Bronze on their own ground during the past two seasons.
Both teams were strongly represented as there is keen rivalry between them for the championship. Play in the first half was very even and confined principally to midfield work, neither goalkeeper being seriously troubled, the interval arriving with no score.
Shortly after resuming from a fine centre by Hampstead's right winger, H Pike, G Garlick on the opposite wing scored with an unstoppable shot. From this point onwards Bronze made desperate efforts to score, but the Town's defence, which was a marked feature throughout the game, prevailed.
