After a splendidly contested game on Saturday at Rotherhithe, Bronze Athletic obtained revenge for their defeat of the previous week securing a victory over the Town by 3 goals to 2, in the Middlesex League, Premier Division. This was the Town's first league defeat of the season and a division of the points would have been a fairer reflection of the play. Bronze were the first to score, and their lead was subsequently increased by W. H. Hooper unluckily diverting the ball into his own net. Bronze led by this score at the interval, but on resuming Town made a warm attack, and from a centre by H. Hyde at outside left, A. W. Humphreys netted with a beautiful shot. Bronze soon after increased their lead by means of a well-placed corner kick, the ball being headed into the net well out of the reach of Matthews, and although Humphreys again scored, the Town had finally to admit defeat.
