Match Report

The drastic changes foreshadowed in the Hampstead Town eleven have been effected, and on Saturday, in their Athenian League encounter with West London Old Boys at Craven Cottage, they had new, but tried, players operating at outside left, centre-forward, and centre-half. There was a marked improvement in combination, resourcefulness in both attack and defence, and with the Old Boys now also fielding a much stronger team, Hampstead effected a really meritorious away victory by two goals to one, F.L. Burrage scoring twice for them, and N. Carson for the home side, the interval score being 1-1.

With a number of games in hand over other clubs in the competition, Hampstead still hold a chance for the championship, and being now freed of Cup-tie responsibilities and disabilities, will make a bold bid for the League.

Tomorrow (Saturday) Wimbledon, the present League leaders, with a fine Cup record this season, visit the Avenue Ground, Child's Hill, for an Athenian League game. H.H. Allwright, who played so well last season at left back for Hampstead, is now a prominent member of the Wimbledon club, having gone to reside in that district, and he will be included in the opposition on this occasion. Wimbledon will field their strongest eleven, which has defeated so many Isthmian League and other clubs this season. Hampstead will make determined efforts to beat them and go one better, and one of the best games at the Child's Hill enclosure this season is assured. Kick-off 3 o'clock. The Child's Hill Silver Band will play before the match and during the interval.
