After playing through all the preliminary rounds with notable success, Hampstead [Town] visited and were beaten by Bromley in the London Senior Cup by 2 goals to nil.
Hampstead showed slightly better football at the start, a fine shot by Kirby being saved by E.F. Vines, but they failed to maintain their form, and on the whole their forwards were disappointing. Bromley were not quite at their best in the first half, their passing being at fault, but they should have been a goal up at the interval. On the change of ends Bromley were the dominant side. McKay scored six minutes from the start from a corner, Kennard following with the second from a corner. Mayhew and McKay on the left, and Smith on the right, played well for Bromley, whose defence was very sound. The Hampstead forwards tried hard in the last quarter of an hour, but lacked cohesion and finish near goal. McKay was off the field between the scoring of the two goals.
With R. Kirby [playing but] a victim of "flu", and L.G. Vance and W. Brooker out of the team, Hampstead were not at full strength, although T.G. Sharp and D. Sefton, who were called upon at the last minute to deputise respectively at left half and right back, did exceedingly well.
