Hampstead [Town] completely routed Cheshunt, who were at full strength, in their Athenian League match at Child's Hill, winning by nine goals to one. This score is a record for the ground, and but for the injury to Young in the first half, which kept him out of the team for the remainder of the game, Hampstead might easily have achieved a double-figure score. As it was, after their eight goals' lead at the interval, and with only ten men, G.F. Howell scored again, whilst A. Hesketh put the finishing touches to a really good effort by the visitors.
Hampstead's score was compiled by F.G. Young, Travers Day (2), C. Wise (2), G.F. Howell (2), L.E. Evershed, and Lewis Smith, the latter from a penalty that was taken twice, the ball being netted on both occasions.
This success gives Hampstead 20 League points for 20 games played, and a goal average of 42 for, 40 against.
