Hampstead Town, in visiting and defeating Cray Wanderers in the London Senior Cup by one goal to nil did not display any marked superiority, the game, which was very fast, being of a fairly even character throughout. Injuries to Sweetman and Field did not improve their chances, and at one period of the game Hampstead were playing only nine men.
Sweetman sustained a lacerated tendon in the first half and this destroyed his usual effectiveness for the remainder of the game. Early in the second half Field retired with an injured knee, which may prove serious, and took no further part in the game.
Despite these reverses Hampstead held tenaciously to a goal scored by E. Irwin from a fine effort by W.E. Harris, who put in a low shot which was only partially cleared. Goodwin made many fine saves, and played in fine form throughout.
