Hampstead, who had to take the field with eight reserves for their return game with Barnet on Boxing Day, put up another splendid display, and did even better than on Christmas morning, for they brought away a point, and on the run of the play and with a little more steadiness in front of goal they would have won.

Barnet took the lead after about five minutes play through Aldous scoring with a fine long cross shot, and for a time it looked as though Hampstead would be outplayed; at length, however, they got together and after a run on the wing Howell put across a fine centre for Manners to head into the net.

This acted as a tonic to the Hampstead players for they attacked strongly to get the lead and Manners went near to scoring with a terrific drive, which went just wide. McMillan, who was playing outside-right, however, missed an easy chance of scoring by shooting over from about six yards out.

Directly after the restart Trevers, in the Hampstead goal, brought off two splendid saves from Drew, and it must be said that in Trevers Hampstead have a really fine reserve goalkeeper.

Anderson, who was playing a fine game at right-half, was responsible for setting the forward line working on several occasions, and from one of his passes right across the field Howell got away and put across a splendid centre from which Applebee should have scored, but no doubt it was over-eagerness that he shot wide. Howell then got the ball in the net from a pass by McMillan, but the goal was disallowed for offside.

For Hampstead Anderson and Howell were outstanding, while Aldous was the pick of the Barnet team, although he had to be spoken to by the referee on more than one occasion.
